The Importance of well-constructed writing.
For some time in the United Kingdom, employers receiving hundreds of applications for a limited number of jobs have criticised the standard of written letters submitted by many of the applicants.
It has always been the custom in this country to encourage job applicants to write letters of application in their own handwriting but with the continual use of keyboards people seem to have lost the ability to write legibly.
From my own days of employing staff I recall how the initial impression that an applicant made on me by virtue of the hand-written letter seemed to shape subsequent judgements that I made about that candidate.
The first impression is vitally important. Whether the letter of application is typed or in your own handwriting the standard of written English is very important, for if the English is poor then your candidacy for the job will be adversely affected.
There is a saying: YOU DO NOT GET A SECOND CHANCE AT MAKING A FIRST IMPRESSION!
King of the Queen's English stands ready to assist you in composing that all-important letter.
